Fieldstar is your
ticket to precision farming. It uses up to date computer and GPS
technology to allow precision farming to be possible. Precision
farming will allow the farmer to be more productive, while reducing
costs in fertilizer, herbicides, seeding, and insecticides.
There are seven parts to the Fieldstar
system. They are the DataTouch screen, the communication unit, the yield
sensor, the moisture sensor, the DGPS receiver and antenna, the data
card, an in-cab printer, and the Fieldstar office package.
The DataTouch screen is a small, easy
to use, touch screen monitor that allows you to access the Fieldstar
system. The data on the screen is displayed in easy to read bar
graphs.
The communication unit is the brain of
the system. It is mounted out of sight in the cab. The unit
receives data from the yield sensor, moisture sensor, and DGPS receivers,
and sends it to the DataTouch screen and your data card. The yield
sensor is mounted in the clean grain elevator of the combine . It continuously
and accurately monitors the flow of grain into the brain bin and relays
that information to the communication unit. The moisture sensor
is mounted in the bin loading tube and continually samples grain for
moisture.
The DGPS receiver and antenna use a network
of satellites to calculate you position. AGCO give two different
error correction options since the US military adds error to positioning
for security reasons. These two options are Satellite Differential
and the use of differential radio beacons
The Data card is about the size of a credit
card and will hold up to 30 hours of data on it. The system comes
with two cards and the Fieldstar office package. The office package
is a Microsoft Windows compatible piece of software that will allow
you to create mapping of data received in the data cards. This software
will allow you to create color yield maps, bar graphs, pie charts, and
field profit maps.
With the use of the Fieldstar system you
will be able to make precision farming fast and easy(Flow
Graphic). It will allow the farmer to make more accurate and
profitable judgments on the different inputs in farming. In

Fieldstar, DataTouch, and Microsoft Windows are Trademarks.
